”I found myself in what appeared to be a large tunnel with a small white light at the other end. I was moving towards this light. I was surrounded by a feeling of absolute peace and what I can only describe as cool revelation. It felt wonderful to be there. “. It is so cold and so dark. .                                                                                                                                                              As I moved towards the light, ” I saw a pinpoint of light in the distance. “A dot of light appeared far off in front of me. It was just a pinpoint, a tiny speck in the distance, but its brilliance distinguished it from all other lights around me and I instinctively pressed towards it.The black mass around me began to take on more of the shape of a tunnel, and I started walking towards  the light. I was instinctively attracted to it, although again, I felt that others might not I remember a very powerful force pulling me towards a serene, very beautiful realm, a higher realm.later  I  returned.

As I walked very slowly along a tunnel toward a bright light, and I could feel an overwhelming sense of warmth and peace and whiteness. I wanted to walk into the whiteness, which was so tranquil and happy. It was like stepping into a vacuum, there was nothing tangible, no scenery to look at, but a tremendous feeling of being somewhere, l  the curves  of the arches brings void spaces wide and deep ..the sound echoes in the chambers that  evokes a strange fear upon  you…as we come out from

the tunnel you  feel it as your second coming to this earth.. yes it is Anchuruli tunnel journey .  A   four km tunnel that passes through the mountain, connecting Erattayar and Anchuruli, carries water to the lake. It is  the tunnel that brings water from the feeder Erattayar dam to the Idukki Dam..

Anchuruli tunnel Anchuruli is located 3 km from Kanchiyar village, on the Kottayam – Kattapana route in Idukki District.  It is a catchment area of Idukki Arch Dam. Uruly  is  a  large bronze vessel with flat bottom..it is a traditional vessel used in Kerala..we feel that the hills appear like mouth downward  Uruli. . The reservoir and the  surroundings provide a charming look.the vast stretches of green pastures,,the small cascade,,,we can walk through the tunnel if it is summer, still it is dangerous to go deeper into the tunnel.

Last year in an incident Firemen rescued 14 tourists stuck inside Anjuruli tunnel . they walked one and half kilometres and later were lost in hallucinations..The fire force and the locals who daringly ventured inside the dark tunnel had to bring the exhausted trekkers outside the tunnel. It is dangerous to walk through  the tunnel during rainy seasons ..Flash floods can sweep the trekkers down. The Kanchiyar grama panchayat is planning to develop Anchuruli into a major tourism spot combining the nearby Ayyappancoil, known for the remains of an ancient temple, and Anchuruli with a a suspension bridge there.
